Turnbull Giant Pear

May 1, 2018 // Two of my Pear scions that I grafted onto our existing Bosc Pear tree are now fruiting. The top one grafted just last year is Seckle Pear and the bottom one grafted in 2016 is Turnbull Giant Pear.

July 22, 2018 // Today’s harvest: a Black Beauty Zucchini, a Bosc Pear and our first Turnbull Giant Pear that I grafted onto our Bosc Pear tree. The Turnbull Giant Pear is so big and heavy and I was really excited to taste it. It tasted something like a cross between a Barlett Pear and a Granny Smith Apple. I liked it and will see if I can take cuttings to graft onto our other Pear trees come spring.

August 8, 2018 // Today’s harvest: Tomatoes (Brad’s Atomic Grape, Early Girl, Best Boy, Lemon Boy, Sun Sugar), Zephyr Squash, Sweet Basil, Sweet Yellow Banana Pepper and two Turnbull Giant Pears.

August 10, 2019 // I love these Turnbull Giant Pears that I grafted onto our Bosc Pear tree back in 2016 because they are huge and taste like Green Apples. I purposely didn’t trim this branch so I can take cuttings and graft it to another part of the tree. I need to research these since I didn’t find much info in the past. I think I need to harvest them soon before the Raccoons or other pest discovers them. 

August 11, 2019 // Today’s harvest: Turnbull Giant Pears and one bunch of Grapes.
